Early Learning and School Readiness Resources

A number of programs are available to support early childhood education. Some of these programs include:

Launch Into Learning
Launch Into Learning is a campaign supported by the Howard County Early Childhood Advisory Council (HCECAC). The goal of HCECAC is to highlight the importance of the early years, for parents and families in particular, but also for early care and education professionals, and other community stakeholders.

Talk With Me
Whether you speak in English, or in your heritage language, or in a combination of languages, all languages help your child to develop.

The Basics Howard County
The Basics are five, fun, simple, and powerful ways that every family can give every child a strong start beginning from birth. They encompass most of what experts say is important for development during the first few years. The Basics are free; they don’t require fancy toys; and they don’t take any extra time. It’s about how families use the time they are already spending with their children during everyday routines.

Read With Me
This program provides a book per month to families of young children from birth to age 5.
